Information about how your personal data is handled during the application process

Thank you for your interest in Jenoptik and your desire to become one of our employees. In the following, we would like to inform you about how your personal data is handled in the scope of the application process. Please always use private e-mail addresses for your applications or inquiries.

Application procedure
During the application, you provide us with your personal data by registering and consent to the collection, processing and use of this information. Your data will only be collected and processed for recruitment purposes within the Jenoptik Group. The controller for the data collection in this sense is the central HR management department of JENOPTIK AG. You can view and change your stored data until it is forwarded to the responsible Jenoptik company. After forwarding the data, corrections can only be made via the HR department of the responsible Jenoptik company. If you also submit your application to a Jenoptik company based in a country outside the European Community, your data will also be forwarded to this Jenoptik company in the so-called third country. If you have approved forwarding under "Data release", your profile will be activated, insofar as it is also of interest to other Jenoptik companies. In this case, your data will be made available to the Jenoptik companies connected to the system and stored for up to 2 years beyond the statutory period so that they can contact you if they are interested. This also applies if you register in the applicant management system when submitting an unsolicited application. You may revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by e-mail to the contact person named in the job advertisement.

Data deletion
If we reject your application and if you have not consented to a longer retention period, we will delete your data no later than six months after notification of the rejection, or if different retention periods apply in countries where a Jenoptik company is located, according to these deadlines. If we offer you the job, we will transfer your data to the HR management processes that we carry out in accordance with legal requirements.

Data security
Jenoptik has globally applicable internal guidelines for ensuring the security and confidentiality of data; In addition, the data protection regulations of the respective country in which a Jenoptik company has its registered office apply. In addition, any service provider who processes your personal data on Jenoptik's behalf will be required to maintain confidentiality and apply Jenoptik's strict security measures. The technical support for our application management system is provided by the Umantis/Haufe Group, an IT service provider based in Germany, which we have selected in accordance with the statutory requirements (GDPR Art. 28, Processor) and to which the statutory data protection regulations also apply.

If you set up a job alert, we only save the information required for this purpose (e-mail address and selection criteria). You can stop using the job alert at any time, in which case we will delete your personal data.

Google Analytics
1. Description and scope of data processing
We use the component Google Analytics on our career portal. Google Analytics is a web analysis service operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, USA. Web analysis is the collection, recording and evaluation of data about the behavior of users on our career portal. A web analysis service collects, among other things, data about which website the user came to a website from, which subpages of the website were accessed or how often and for how long a subpage was viewed. We use the addition “_gat._anonymizeIp” for web analysis via Google Analytics. By means of this addition, Google shortens the IP address of the user and thus makes it anonymous if our career portal are accessed from a Member State of the European Union or from another signatory to the agreement on the European Economic Area. The shortening of the IP address results in anonymization. It is then no longer possible to assign the shortened address to an identified or identifiable person. Google Analytics places a cookie on the user’s computer. By placing the cookie, Google is able to analyze the use of our career portal. Each time one of the individual pages of the career portal is visited, the Internet browser on the user’s computer is automatically prompted by the Google Analytics component to transmit data to Google for the purpose of online analysis. As part of this technical procedure, Google obtains knowledge of user data, such as the shortened IP address of the data subject, which allows Google, among other things, to trace the origin of visitors and clicks. The cookie is used to store personal data, such as the access time, the location from which access originated and the frequency of visits to our career portal by the user. Whenever you visit our career portal, these data, including the IP address of the Internet connection used by the data subject, is transferred to Google in the USA. These personal data are also stored by Google in the USA. Google may pass on these personal data collected through the technical procedure to third parties.

2. Legal basis for data processing
The legal basis for the processing of data is Art. 6(1) f GDPR and Section 15(3) German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz).

3. Purpose of data processing
The purpose of using Google Analytics is to analyze the flow of visitors to our career portal. Google uses the data and information obtained to evaluate the use of our career portal in order to compile online reports for us that show activity on our career portal and to provide other services in connection with the use of our career portal. This enables us to further optimize our career portal for the user. Our legitimate interest in processing personal data pursuant to Art. 6(1) f GDPR also lies in these purposes.

4. Duration of storage
The data stored via Google Analytics will be automatically erased by us after 26 months.

5. Objection and elimination option
The user may prevent the storage of cookies by our career portal at any time by changing the settings of the Internet browser used and thus permanently objecting to the storage of cookies. In addition, a cookie already stored by Google Analytics can be erased at any time via the Internet browser or other software programs. Furthermore, the user has the option of objecting to and thus preventing the collection of data generated by Google Analytics as well as the processing of these data by Google. To do this, the user must download and install a browser add-on under the link This browser add-on automatically informs Google Analytics after installation that no data and information on the user’s visits to websites may be transferred to Google. The installation of the browser add-on is deemed an objection. If the user’s system is erased, formatted and reinstalled in the future, the user must reinstall the browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics.
